Event Description
On January 1, 2019 John J. Verrett was involved in a boating accident. He was rushed to University Medical Center where he remained unresponsive. He was in a coma for 3 weeks. His injuries included several spinal fractures, broken shoulder blades along with a few other bones, and a traumatic brain injury. He remained in the hospital for a month before being transferred to an LTAC facility, AMG in Houma, where he would be treated until he was strong enough for a rehab unit. He had been treated there for about 3 weeks until he had met his goals to be transferred to Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. This has been a long road thus far and he still has so much further to go. He has worked so hard to get where he is. He has since be able to return home, but he still attends outpatient rehab. He has overcome many of the odds the doctors gave him. He has a wife, Margaret, and a 4-year-old daughter, Charlotte. This has affected them financially; bills have accumulated since the accident due to John not being able to work at this time. We thank you for helping this young man and his family in any way that you can. Car show entry is $20. Spectators are free. High performance boats are welcomed also but will have to be pushed into a spot. If you plan to bring a high performance boat a parking spot will need to be reserved for you ahead of time. There will be event t-shirts sold for $20 each. Event t shirts will be sold also for $20. Will also be doing half and half raffle. There will be other items to be raffled.
