Cheyenne Cruise Nights featuring The Inland Ocean Coalition WY Chapter

Event DescriptionJoin us for "Cheyenne Cruise Nights" featuring the Inland Ocean Coalition-WY Chapter on June 19th! We'll be sporting our best mermaid and pirate's costumes on the corner of Central and 25th in downtown Cheyenne! We all have a stake in ocean protection, even if we live inland! We all want a healthy environment, clean water and air! The ocean is our lifesource providing us with over half our oxygen, snowpack in our mountains, protein (fish & seafood), minerals/enzymes/medicine, trade, and security to name a few. We often think that to protect the ocean, you have to be near the ocean, but we all have a direct impact on the cycles of life in the ocean—no matter where we live. The changes we need to make to address the largest threats facing our seas—reducing single-use plastics and other pollution entering our waterways, protecting our fisheries, promoting marine protected areas (our national parks in the ocean), and fighting for legislation that supports our ocean, waterways, and climate—can happen from anywhere in the world. The Inland Ocean Coalition's approach is unique in that we give inland communities a voice in protecting our ocean by empowering them to become ocean champions in their communities. We actively engage with students K-12, meet with our legislators and give community presentations in addition to monthly film-screenings and/or guest speakers. The spring and summer months are especially busy as we plan waterway cleanups including an engaging cleanup at granite and crystal reservoirs via kayak followed by a BBQ and guided nature hike! Giveaways and raffle! Thank you Nick Dodgson and Cheyenne Cruise Nights for giving us this opportunity!
